The Burgeoning Spiderwort is a peculiar plant found in Pikmin 2 that grows in warm, outdoor climates and produces two varieties of berries. One type is the red Ultra-spicy Berry, and the other is the purple Ultra-bitter Berry. When 10 of these berries are brought to The Ship, they can be squeezed into a dose of Ultra-spicy Spray or Ultra-bitter Spray, respectively. Occasionally, a Burgeoning Spiderwort in the Wistful Wild will possess both types of berries at once, but most plants only produce one color of berry. 5 of these berries will grow on the plant at any time. To harvest the berries, either toss some Pikmin up onto them, or use the C-stick to make them climb up the plant's stalk. Your Pikmin will then hammer away at the berries as they fall off, one by one. The more Pikmin you employ, the faster the process will go. Once all berries have been knocked down, the Pikmin will drop and either join your party or transport the berries back to the ship, depending on how close you are. The berries will suddenly regenerate in approximately one-twelfth of a day. If berries are knocked down but not brought back to the ship, they will perish and disintegrate after a little while.

Burgeoning Spiderworts have two natural enemies, the Ravenous Whiskerpillar, and an odd type of fungus that grows near the plants and saps the life from them. The Whiskerpillars will sometimes emerge from the ground and crawl up the stalk of the plant to eat its berries. They can easily be knocked down though by your Pikmin by either tossing them up onto the end of the plant or by directing them to climb up the stalk. The fungus however is a bit harder to get rid of. It will appear near clusters of two or more Burgeoning Spiderworts as a white tangled ball with its mycelia branching out along the ground, consuming the Spiderworts and also nearby Pellet Posies. It does not harm your Pikmin, but it can be a real pain if you are looking to concoct some Sprays. It will shrink and eventually disappear when your Pikmin attack it, and will not appear again for a least a few more days.

The Burgeoning Spiderwort is not found in the Piklopedia and is not even named in the game. It is only identified as the Burgeoning Spiderwort inside the Pikmin 2 manual.
