|Scientific Name||Mandarachnia explodus|

The Volatile Dweevil is a species of Dweevil found in Caves in Pikmin 2. Like most dweevils, they tend to carry objects on their backs; in this case, the dweevil is carrying a Bomb-rock. They often drop from the ceiling and follow you around as the bomb-rocks they carry count down to an explosion. These are very dangerous creatures, because they can instantly kill many Pikmin at once if they catch you at a bad time. On levels where there are many of them, it may be a good idea to sweep the entire sublevel alone to flush them all out, then go back and get your Pikmin to complete the level. Sometimes, they only appear when a Treasure is moved though, in which case, you should be prepared to call your Pikmin back and run. This is an especially tricky situation because if you use the C-stick to help move your Pikmin away from the dweevil, they may stop to pick up the item and then get caught in the explosion. The only way to kill them is by waiting for them to explode. They do not leave anything behind.
One good thing about the Volatile Dweevil however, is the fact that it can be used to destroy other enemies or hazards. If you are out of Yellow or White Pikmin, you can lure the dweevils over to Electrical Nodes or Gas Pipes to disable them. Fire Geysers cannot be destroyed by bomb-rocks.
 Olimar's Notes
"The Volatile Dweevil is one member of an insect family known for mimicking objects by carrying them on their backs. The dweevil family exhibits a most unusual characteristic whereby the creature's behavioral patterns actually changed based upon the object the creature carries on its back. The Volatile Dweevil has one of the most potent of all the species within the dweevil family, due to the habit of carrying explosive devices. Approach with caution and/or body armor!"
 Louie's Notes
"The scorching species combusts upon contact with the tongue. Only edible by the adventurous and asbestos-tongued."
