Treasures are objects in Pikmin 2 that must be collected to complete the game. Like the Ship Parts in Pikmin, they are scattered about the landscape or hidden inside enemies. Each treasure that is collected will be given a value by The Ship, which is the price that it is expected to sell for back on Hocotate. Every time a treasure is collected, more of Hocotate Freight's debt is paid off. Once you have collected 10,000 Pokos worth of treasure and therefore completed your mission, you will return to Hocotate.

Each treasure that you have collected can be viewed in the Treasure Hoard, which may be accessed from the main map at the start of each day. It allows you to view each treasure you have collected and also read a little bit about it. When you have come back to the Pikmin Planet after repaying your debt, each treasure in the treasure hoard (and species in the Piklopedia) will be numbered, including the ones you don't have. You will be able to view the Sales Pitch for a treasure after you have collected all of the treasures in its respective series. There are a total of 201 treasures and 25 series.

Each series consists of approximately 6-10 treasures, although the range goes from 2 to 20. Each series also has a 'theme'.
