The Decorated Cannon Beetle is a creature that is found primarily in Caves, due their diet consisting of rocks. It does not eat Pikmin, but instead will shoot round rocks at them, just like other Lithopods. However, unlike other lithopods, Decorated Cannon Beetles shoot magnetized rocks which home in on metallic objects such as space suits.
 How to Defeat
Like Fiery and Watery Blowhogs, they will buck off Pikmin on their backs and proceed to attack, usually before the Pikmin can get back up. Therefore, swarming from behind or using Purple Pikmin is recommended. If there are 2 or more lithopods or other projectile-tossing enemies like Careening Dirigibugs and Gatling Groinks, you can make the enemies attack each other by standing near one while another is attacking in your direction. Alternatively, if you do not want to risk losing any Pikmin, like in caves, you can attack with A without any Pikmin in your party. It is possible to position yourself on the side of a decorated cannon beetle or Armored Cannon Beetle Larva and continually attack so that the beast will not turn and aim towards you, but instead keep attacking forward. Beware though, because if you are close enough, you will be knocked back and hurt when it bucks. This method can be performed much faster with the Brute Knuckles upgrade.

This creature is the larval form of a cannon beetle variant known for a diet consisting entirely of eating stones. The Decorated Cannon Beetle favors stones with high iron content, which contributes to its brilliant red torso. The stones these creatures launch are wrapped in a powerful magnetic field which causes the stones to stray from their launch trajectory when other objects with high metal content, such as space suits, are nearby. Extreme caution is recommended for explorers wearing steel-plated armor in close proximity to this fearsome creature.

Slice the meat into tender cutlets and vigorously apply a lime and pepper rub. Panfry until lightly crusted. Accompany with watercress and drizzle with freshly prepared tamarind sauce.
