Bulborbs are fictional creatures from the Pikmin Universe

Bulborb's are the most well know and common enemy in the Pikmin series. They are found in almost every area in both games, because of they're nocturnal nature they always sleep and awaken when attacked, making many totally avoidable. Despite being common they are one of the most powerful enemy's, they can eat up to 5 Pikmin at once. They are part of the Grub-dog Familiy.

They're name comes from Bulbie, Olimars dog, who it is said they look like. The scientific name is 'Oculus kageyamii' There are 3 type's of Bulborb as of Pikmin 2: - Red Bulborb: The most common type, known as Spotty Bulborb in Pikmin, have Red bodies. Scientific name 'Oculus Kageyamii Russus' - Hariy Bulborb: Found in colder area's, have less health than Red's and hair on they're back, which falls off at half health to reavel blue spots. Scientific name is 'Oculus Kageyamii Folliculus' - Orange Bulborb: Found in the harder areas and caves, they wake up quicker than other Bulborbs, Have orange bodies with black spots. Scientific name is 'Oculus Kageyamii Orangium'

In Pre-release Pikmin screenshots Blue and Yellow Bulborbs could be seen but were absent from the finished game.

[edit] How to beat

There are many different forms of a Bulborb, but they are all big, and all have a tendency to eat large amounts of Pikmin. The easiest way to take care of them is to just flat out bullrush them with many Piks. Try to sneak up on them when they are sleeping, and start throwing Purple Pikmin on them. The Purple should take care of most of its HP, so then just go to its feet and attack. If you don't have Purple, use Red, then Blue, Yellow, and finally try to avoid using White.
